pigeon housing advice needed?

Hi there, i need to build a loft, aviary, coop or whatever you call it for 12 runt pigeons, because there are allot of cats in our neighborhood, and the neighbors will complain to the council the birds will have to stay locked up at all times , so to begin with how big a loft do i need to build for those sort of circumstances? i plan to have 6 double nesting boxes, an area where they can bath, and get plenty of sun as well, what type of paint do i use over wood and or would it be better to use builders lime instead? the floor will have to be 12 ml waterproof ply wood, do i spread newspapers over the floor or can i use sawdust, wood shavings and have it removed every two months or so in order to keep things clean and germ free?

What size / shape nesting box is suitable for Lovebirds?

I have a few books and surfed the net for info on nesting boxes suitable for Lovebirds in general and only found vague dimensions. I have not bred Lovebirds before, but have kept them and my family has been breeding various other birds for many years. The boxes we currently have are budgie (long flat shaped), small finch (cube shaped), large finch / Gouldian finch (shorter than a budgie box with an entry “room” and a nesting “room”), and Bourke parrot (similar to budgie box but bigger) nesting boxes. Would any of these nesting boxes be suitable for fishers and Masked Lovebirds? If not, what dimensions – more importantly – what shape boxes do they prefer? Do they prefer long flat, tall narrow or cube shaped boxes?

Can any one point me in the right direction either though their info or a website I can access? Thanks!
My birds currently live in a large avairy and just need some boxes to nest in. Just like the hollows in trees that wild birds use. The boxes to nest in are what my question is about, not the total living area.
I would never keep birds or any other animal in small cages. That’s just cruel.

For EXPERIENCED BIRD BREEDERS ONLY!!?

I have been breeding Cockateils for four years now. Last year I changed from cage breeding to aviary colony breeding. Last year I had problems with ants getting into their nesting boxes and eating the babies!! I’ve tried many things. Anyone who has personally had this problem while breeding birds. PLEAE HELP!

We’re planning on bldg 2 nesting boxes for house finches or birds under our patio. Will they nest there?
