Can we move this new bird’s nest without hurting the bird?

We are having electrical problems in our home and less than a 3 days ago it was just and old breaker box. Now a bird has made a nest on top of it and the electrician is due tomorrow! We got close to it and the bird doesn’t move and I fear she’s laying eggs or already has. How and where could we move the nest if the breaker box needs replacing (which it probably does)? There are lots of cats in the neighborhood and we don’t have trees in our yard.
It’s impossible to leave the bird’s nest there. Our electrical problem is a major fire hazard and if it’s not in the breaker box, we’ll leave the nest alone, but diagnostics so far say it IS the breaker box so either the nest gets destroyed or we try to move it responsibly.

How can you tell if a bird has fever?

last nite Bobby’s head felt warm. I mean warm enuf for me to notice. His feet were normal and he is acting normal (for him). Has anyone tried that new bird food that just came out on the net? They send you a trial bag (4 lbs.) for shipping charges of 4.95 and then send it every month automatically. they claim you can feed parikeets to cockatoos with it.

a question for the people with multiple birds?

i have a male budgie(butterbean).he was young when i got him. he’s almost a year old now.he tamed pretty quick and by now he follows me around the house and can say several words and phases. ive also got a 5 month old green quaker(apple).apple has not been sexed.butterbean really likes apple.apple mostly ignores butterbean. they hang out together sometimes but they do not live together.my question is can i get butterbean (the budgie)a friend?i want to,i think he would like one,but i have several concerns.male or female?i would like to get a female because it might be neat to breed them someday but i don’t want that to be in the real near future so is there any thing i can do to keep them from breeding?like don’t put in a nest box?and if i do that will she become egg-bound?also since i don’t know the sex of apple will he/she be more likely to fight with a male or female new bird?also will butterbean not like me if he has another budgie living with him?will he revert back to just bird noises and quit talking?any helpful advice would be great.thanks.

Can anyone tell me if it is safe to put a new cockatiel in my old cockatiel’s cage?

My husband bought me a cockatiel last year for my birthday from an exotic petshop.Well the lady did not tell me he was sick.He was only about four months old when we bought him and two weeks later he died.I kept calling her before he died and all she said was to keep trying to hand feed him.I tried telling her,he wouldn’t eat.We took him to the avian vet,but it was too late for him.He was too sick.I cried over my Pretty boy for months.People kept giving me birds.(ALL parakeets.)I gave some away, but i still have a three left.Anyway,i want to give all those away too,but keep the same cage.Is it safe and sanitary to do so? I paid a lot of money for it and don’t want to get rid of it.I want to use it for my new bird.Any info you guys can give me IS Greatly Appreciated. Many Thanks in advance & Be Blessed! Monica
I don’t plan on reusing the perches.I actually wanted to put a specific kind of branch in there for the bird.

2 female 1 male cockatiel, 1 nest box?

I had 2 cockatiels then found a 3rd on the street. It was obviously hand fed since it came to me when I found it. After isolation and looking for its owners, we put the new bird in with our 2. Our 2 started mating and we put in a nest box so they could lay a clutch of eggs. We thought the new bird was a male because it liked to hang out with our female, but now we think it’s a female because she wants to go in the nest box, and actually laid an egg in there. Our original 2 had a clutch of 5 eggs and 1 hatched this morning. Now there are still 5 eggs with the baby chick. I think the new bird laid an egg in the nest box. She actually sits in the nest box sometimes (next to the bird that’s sitting on the eggs). So far she hasn’t harmed anything. The male doesn’t seem to like the situation, but the female doesn’t mind another bird being in the nest box.

Should I get another nest box for the new female? I don’t think she mated with the male (at least not that I’ve seen).

Male and Female Parakeets!?

I have had a male parakeet for 8 years now, and I recently got a new one last winter. I put them in their own cages because I thought after so long the male wouldn’t like having a new bird in his space. But I didn’t know that it was a girl! I thought it was taking a long time for the cere to change to blue, and when they finally got to interacting together yesterday, they started to ‘kiss’ each other and she put her tail up in the air and his pupils got really tiny! I tried to take him away but he hopped off of my finger back to her! Eventually he let me put him back in the cage. I can’t deal with any babies but I feel bad to separate them. I think they are bonded already now! I have never had more than one bird at a time. I would like to let them be together but I want to be pretty sure they won’t have babies. I read to not give or let them make a nest box….Had anyone had personal experience with this and what did you do? Also, I noticed that the female eats everything- the cuddle bone is almost gone in a few weeks, the grainy perch covers are eaten up, and she even eats the wood perch…I gave her the mineral block and she just pooped on it. Is there anything special I need to do for female parakeets? Thanks.
