Heating pad over night for baby birds?

I’m trying to raise some baby blackbirds that have fallen out of their nest. The mom built the nest in the wall of my barn. The babies couldn’t stay in it, I’ve tried putting them back several times and they fall again. One died from the fall onto a concrete floor. I took the other three this morning. I’ve been feeding them every hour and they seem to be doing well. Every time I feed them I give them two hot water bottles. I’m worried about them getting too cold over night in the house with the AC on. They are nestled together in some straw on one side of the box with a hot water bottle on each side. Would it be ok to wrap a heating pad in a wash cloth and put it on the other side of the box, leaving it on a low setting overnight?

Will the Mourning Dove mother leave?

About a week ago, a mourning dove nested in our flower box right outside out window. I was babysitting my friends’ son, who is about four years old. One night, I come into yt room and I see him poking at the mother mourning dove through the screen, and when I came in, the mother mourning dove had flown off! It’s been about thirty minutes, and I’m wondering if she is going to come back.. The two eggs had hatched, and the birds have some feathers, but not enough for them to survive. They are about 5 inches long. I haven’t touched them, but still I’m worried if the mom will come back because of what threat the child posed on them.

Why do birds like to hide inside of something, is this a nesting behavior?

I have seen a couple of birds (males mostly) who like to climb inside paper bags, boxes etc. When they do this usually they make noises as though they are whispering to themselves. This usually leads to aggression if they are disturbed. My conure is only two months old and has started this behavior. He also does this when he is covered up at night. Any idea why they do this?? Serious answers only please!

HELP – - What do I feed a little bird?

I found a little bird i the middle of my parking lot, he has feathers but can’t fly. I left him out for a while and he was still there so I brought him in for the night because it is cold out and I didn’t want him to get hit.

I don’t plan on keeping him, but I made him a little box with a makeshift nest, some twigs, and some cozy stuff. Is there anything I can do to feed him? And what can I feed him?

Getting Rid of Rats?

I just noticed a rat this morning near my house. I have some trees and a stream behind my house so I assume it lives down there somewhere. I have not seen any rat droppings in my house or heard any “scurrying” or “scratching” at night. There is no evidence of rats being in my house but the sight of one near my house for the first time since I have lived there (4 years) is making me kind of nervous. I wonder if there is anything I should do to prevent them from coming in or just leave them to the hawks that will come around the house occasionally, feeding on the birds and mice. I don’t know if I should be worried or not.

Should I bury a baby bird that I found dead in its nest?

There was a cardinal nest outside of my house that i have been watching for the past week or so and slowly but surely i saw two of the three babies leave the nest and last night there was just one left and when i went to check up on her this morning i was surprised to still see her there but when i took a closer look i saw she wasn’t breathing or moving and must have died since the last time i checked up on her, I’m so devastated!! and i cant stand the fact that shes just going to remain in her nest until she is eaten by other animals so would it be okay for me to put her in a shoe box and bury her or am i going to risk getting a disease?

Will Parakeets starve them selves?

My older parakeet hates her food, my mom said she will get the one that she likes Tuesday. My question is this. I have nothing else to feed her but the food she refuses to eat. Can my baby make it through the night and afternoon with out food? She has been eating millet treats, but that is it. My Parakeet won’t starve her self right? Birds don’t starve them selves do they?

Thanks for the help.
God Bless you all†

If you believe in prayer to our Lord Jesus Christ, please please pray for her.
She does have food in her cage right now, just not the one she likes.
It was a new food, that we by mistake got. We just went out today to get the right food. How fast should I be removing the millet treats? I want her to get use to eating the real food again. If I put a apple in with her, one who has never had it, would that be a bad or good thing? She is about 6-7 years of age.
She is back to normal and active. Thanks for the prayers and help. God Bless you†

We got the the old food back, and she is eating. Praise God†
