Ok, so I have a pair of lovebirds, about 10 months old. They have started mating, and since then the female has laid one egg a day for the last 5 days….the only problem is I don’t have a nest box (I don’t plan on breeding, but if they happen to have babies, then I don’t mind either) I put a bowl in there and some cloth and paper towels, but she doesn’t lay the eggs in it. She lays the eggs on the bottom of the cage, and does not sit on them…
Should I take the eggs out, or should I leave them in there? How long should I leave them in if I do?
Will the female sit on her eggs if I have a nest box? Is she too young to know what to do?
I am totally new to the whole breeding part of bird care!
I am about 90% sure I have a male and female. The male is smaller, and nicer. The female is a MEAN bird…and bites like crazy, and if fat and weighs more…(and lays eggs).
They have been doing the dance, and seem like a mated pair.
