I have a few pigeon questions?

so, i found this young pigeon on my doorstep, no way i can find it’s nest cuz chinatown’s crowded with millions of birds and hundreds of bird nest so i bought it home. then i went to the pet shop to get canary seed(cuz the pigeon feed is real expensive and it’s a big pack, the nutrients are only like 2 persent less or more)
so i got it settled into a 2 squared feet cardboard box. with newspapers over a piece of warm cloth for bedding.
So now i have a few questions:
1.my pigeon is attracted to bread more than bird seed? why? and how am i suppose to fix that? cuz bread is not good for them in the long run.
2.my pidgeon is flicking the seeds like real hard, SO THEY’RE FLYING ALL OVER THE PLACE.
3.I know that a cloth underneath newspaper ain’t that warm and comfy, but i’m afraid that the bird poop will stain the piece of cloth if i put it on top, and i want to give it the best i have until it’s back feathers have all grown in(it’s currently pinkish with tufts of soft fur like feathers, other wise it’s full fledged)
thanks

Will same sex love birds try to mate?

i have 2 love birds and i could swear there male and female. The one that i thought was the female seems to accually be a male, or well it takes on the male roll ( sex wise ) and the female the one that i thought was the male is gathering stuff and makeing a nest in the box. My girlfriend and i are worried that they may be the same sex and are just confused. We do have 6 parrotlets but those we know for sure of there sex’s, just we bought our love birds from the Pet shop and they didnt have any classification on what sex they were, the only thing they said was that the “Now” female kept breaking out of her cage to get to the “Now” male’s cage, is that a sign that there both opposite sex?

How do you care for a duckling?

I am looking after a duckling until it is big enough to go outside with a flock of ducks and not be eaten by a cat (like its 5 other siblings were). I am currently feeding it cat food and keeping it in a large cardboard box with a covered hot water bottle, a blanket, food, shallow water, and a 60 watt light above for warmth. I have been told chicken mash or starter mix is the best food where can I get this from? I am able to get royal canin or hills dry cat food for free, is this good food? I know someone who feed a diet of mainly cheap canned cat food and their duck lived but the feathers grew twisted. I asked at a pet shop and they said I should just take the duckling to the local botanic gardens and it will fend for itself (its about 3 days old). I asked at a vet clinic and they reccomended bread and milk, I know that bread is too salty and milk is bad for birds ( they actually admitted that they didn’t know if the ducks raised on this formula surived to adult hood)
It is 44g
I got the duckling from a tame flock its not a wild one. The flock is owned by the manager of the cattery I work at, one of the other workers is from the only animal rescue/shelter in the area, and I can try to get advice from her, I am experienced at looking after animals as I am a vet nurse.

I want a bird?

I saw a bird in the pet shop. It looks like a parrat but the lady called it a Rain Bowlerkeet or something like that. It was blue and red. Can I keep this as a pet? Will it talk? Do I need a cage? What do I feed it? I have a goldfish.

HELP!!! My “male” bird just laid an egg!?

Ok, so I have a “male” bird and a female, the “male” is about 2 years old, and the female is only a few months old. He looked sooo much like a male, according to the internet and the pet shop we bought him from.

He was acting really weird, puffed up on the bottom of the cage, (which isn’t very big – I don’t have room for a nesting box) so I took him out, and an egg just like… fell out! He only laid one egg and is showing no interest in it.

What should I do? Take it away [It's NOT fertilized]? Is there anything I should do for him? Or… her.

Thank you so much, this is really weird =]
I shoulda made my question more obvious: what do I do?!

Take the eggs away?! Or leave them?
Should I feed her anything special?

i am handraising a cockateil what is the best formula to feed him?

i was giving him a mix that is white and called handraising mix from the pet shop he didnt seem to be putting on weight then a lady told me (she raises them) that to buy a pellett form as it has all the nutrition in it and soak it in warm water till it becomes a sloppy paste and then give this to him he is doing really well but i was wondering how much should they weigh he is about 4-5 weeks and he weighs about 80grams he is a very happy bird and i would hate to be doing something wrong as he is my baby
