HELP!!! My “male” bird just laid an egg!?

Ok, so I have a “male” bird and a female, the “male” is about 2 years old, and the female is only a few months old. He looked sooo much like a male, according to the internet and the pet shop we bought him from.

He was acting really weird, puffed up on the bottom of the cage, (which isn’t very big – I don’t have room for a nesting box) so I took him out, and an egg just like… fell out! He only laid one egg and is showing no interest in it.

What should I do? Take it away [It's NOT fertilized]? Is there anything I should do for him? Or… her.

Thank you so much, this is really weird =]
I shoulda made my question more obvious: what do I do?!

Take the eggs away?! Or leave them?
Should I feed her anything special?

i am handraising a cockateil what is the best formula to feed him?

i was giving him a mix that is white and called handraising mix from the pet shop he didnt seem to be putting on weight then a lady told me (she raises them) that to buy a pellett form as it has all the nutrition in it and soak it in warm water till it becomes a sloppy paste and then give this to him he is doing really well but i was wondering how much should they weigh he is about 4-5 weeks and he weighs about 80grams he is a very happy bird and i would hate to be doing something wrong as he is my baby

How to get my new arakeets get used to me?

I bought two female parakeets several months ago. they were very nerveous in the pet shop and the lady told me they would calm down once they’re in their new home. But he damn things just start flying all over the place when they see me. It’s a nightmare to change the cage, feed them water, etc. Feathers fly everywhere and they make a mess. What’s wrong?

I’ve tried the quiet gentle approach and also the casual ” I’m here get used to me already” approach. Nothing seems to work. They hate me. My previous bird, a loverbird I had to regretfully trade in for quieter birds, was loving, I would take him out of the cage and we’d play. I would give him a bath in the bathroom sink and he would pay with my hair. And these new stupid birds are retarded! I hate them just as much as they hate me.

Help…

are black sunflower seeds bad for them? Someone also said gravel was bad even though it is recommended that you give it to birds. I am feeding her seed from the pet shop.
I have had her for months, but I was giving her sunflower seeds and gravel along with her seed and someone said it was bad for their liver.

Help with a Baby Bird?

My dad works in a welding machine shop and they found a baby blue jay in one of the storage rooms. They looked all over the place and found No visible nests or other birds. So he brought it home in a box, and we called the wildlife group near us, and they can’t get out here for at least a month. However, They didnt tell me what to feed him, I’ve been cutting up worms and feeding him that way, but should I be giving him something else?

He’s NOT that old and it looks to be that he’s JUST getting his feathers.

He still has some of the baby fuzz on his head
He died this morning :(

How long dose it take Love birds eggs to hatch ?

I got a pair of Love Bird this last Friday 5/18/2007 at a Pet shop the Birds had six eggs in a nest box…. I felt bad for them and decied to take a chance and buy them…I got a cage all set up for them and everything ….I didn’t think they would go back and set on the Eggs since new invirerment but they did i have no idea if the eggs are fertil but one of them is sitting on them and they seem so happy here ..One of them is pretty bald is that normal when they are nesting? And I have no idea how long it takes eggs to hatch pet shop owner had no idea when she layed eggs!!!

(Refering To “My Cockatiel Is Sick”)?

I just got a pair of cocaktiel today. When i was at the shop, the female was healthy and not sick. But when i came back, she is fluffee up and shaking. I put her in a bigger cage with the male, but i dont want the male to get sick so thts why i temoprarily changed the cage. I wanted to know if she is going to lay an egg. Before taking the bird out, the breeder checked the nest box.there were 5 eggs. He doesnt know when she layed the eggs. I wanted to know if her appearance looks as if she is going to lay an egg. PLZ help. Iz she going to lay an or iz she just sick?
