I have a bird feeder with a railing that the birds sit on. It is battery powered and activated by weight so that small birds can feed yet keep squirrels and larger birds away. It came with rechargeable cadmium batteries. I do not have a charger. Can I use alkiline batteries?

hi, I love birds, but sadly i can’t keep them in the house, so i was wondering if i got canaries, finches, parakeets, small birds like that, and built a couple big nest boxs and put hay, or burlap in the boxes and put seed and water out for them everyday, would they survive? there aren’t any loose cats around my house, would they all get along? what are some other birds, besaides the ones i mentioned? please dn’t say pigeon, or qual. thanks!
oh they would be loose, they wouldn’t be in a cage.
round, light brown seeds that are in the bag..Does anybody know what these seeds are? and why the birds will not eat it??

I’m so weird, I save all little things, such as insects, small birds that I feed with my mouth and I want to pick –up all street animals. My dream is, to live on a farm and have lots and lots of animals, pigs, ducks, horses, sheep, cows and chickens and much more! I have the greatest respect for plants! So weird! I even save ants…
I have a very small walled garden containing only lawn. When it rained the other day I noticed thousands of baby snails climbing the walls and on my verandah. How can I get rid of them without putting down any poisons, as I have small birds feeding there daily. Please help. I also notice slugs appearing on the walls at night, but they are not many (yet).
