I have a baby Sparrow who tried to fly the nest and flew right into a window and broke its top beak completely off. The nest was way too high up so I couldn’t put it back. At first it went into shock and a couple hours later after the blood cleared it was doing fine. It can breathe fine out of its nostrils and it will not stop chirping (I think because it is hungry?) but I really cannot feed it anything since it has no top beak. What should I do? I called the vet and they said they could put it to sleep humanely but is there any way an animal rescue can help this bird survive?

Update: Thank you everyone for your answers and insight. Unfortunately, it passed away earlier today.
A mother sparrow began building a nest by a fan end outside. It blows out air every time I use it for cooking in my kitchen. There are no eggs in the nest yet. When I was unaware that there was a nest there, I turned on the fan and the mother got spooked and flew away. Her nest blew away as well. I put a box over where the nest used to be, but then the bird began to build another nest in the box! I love birds and love seeing their nests and babies, but I would want the babies to grow up in a safer location than on my deck near a fan, a window, a grill, andthe hustle and bustle of my family. I haven’t seen the mother, but she worked on her nest in the box when I was not there. If she builds her nest in the box, should I relocate it, or call an animal refuge to come get it? Thanks!
AFTER MAKING AND POSITIONING A NESTING BOX, IT TOOK ABOUT TWO YEARS TO PERSUADE HOUSE SPARROWS TO NEST IN IT, BUT IT WAS WORTH IT IN THE END!
My house sparrow tried to fly today! she got about 3 1/2 feet! Does that mean it’s time to give her seeds? If it is time to stop giving it to her how do I wean her?
Do you think I should mash seeds up & feed them to her.
Or maybe I should just put seeds in the cage & not give her cat food & when she realizes she won’t get any more cat food she will eat them. Any other ideas???
I have no idea how old she is. I found her in some tall grass… I watched her for about 2 hours & no birds came. I couldn’t find a nest & she was really weak so I decided I would help her out. I’ve had her for almost 4 days & she is doing really well.
I asked this question before but I only got 3 answers & none of them helped much.
I found a little bird hobbling along our driveway (I think it’s a baby sparrow) and it had dried blood on its head and it looked like it had fallen out of it’s nest. We took it inside and a friend of our told us to feed it cat jelly meat or cat biscuits soaked in water. At the moment we are keeping it in a shoe box with a towel inside it.. Is there anything else I can do for it?
I read that you should leave them where you find them because their mother will come back for them, but after waiting a while no bird came. Our friend was holding it for a while, so if we put it back out there now the mother wouldn’t even take it back (from what I’ve heard)
Help please!

I found a fledgling sparrow on the road while taking a run. He didn’t seem old enough to take care of himself and his mother was nowhere to be found. I took him in and researched how to take care of sparrows. I read he had his feathers & was old enough that I wouldn’t have to worry about keeping him warm, feeding him every 2 hours, etc. In other words, he had a better chance of living. After gathering information, I fed gave him water, tiny chunks of banana, and mashed up cat food for protein. I read since he was older he was only supposed to eat a couple of times a day. He a little stubborn and did not eat a great amount, but I also read birds won’t overeat if they’re full. He was chirping &jumping around one day, and I fed him that evening. I figured he had eaten and drank all day after being rescued, so I stayed at my boyfriend’s to avoid the chirping. When I came back at 7am, he was near dead and I couldn’t revive him. Did I do something to kill him? I need to know ![]()
I also want to note that the day and a half I had him prior to falling ill, he didn’t seem to have any external or internal injuries. I just wanted to know if I fed him the wrong stuff, if it’s because he barely ate, or I read wrong and shouldn’t have left him unattended for that long.
