how do you make your own humming bird feed? how much water, how much sugar?
WE had a nest near our pool house and the eggs hatched last week. We noticed yesterday that the birds were looking for food each time we passed it. There were lots of people over. Today, there was only one actively asking for food. the other two were barely moving/breathing. We brought the nest in and started giving sugar water from a syringe i had from work with a fine tip. After about 3 hours, we moved onto egg yolks mixed with sugar water. The birds have eaten every 15 to 20m minutes and two are pooping normally, one has a diarhea stool. any advice. We stopped feeding 30 mintues ago and have moved them to a bed of old towels as advised in one site surrounded by hot water bottles to maintain some heat source. What should we expect to do for tomorrow and are we doing everything correctly? What can we expect for the next week/two weeks.
Thanks very much
I know you can feed then sugar and water. Do you know the amounts? What kinds of flowers shall i plant?
THE hummers i have spotted are green with a red neck what kind are those? do they have a name ?
Accidently bought puffed wheat cereal instead of my usual sugar smacks and now I’m stuck with them. Besides feeding it to the birds, does anybody have a recipe so I could make something yummy with them?

My husband and I just adopted 2 cute little sugar gliders! One girl and one boy, they are almost a year old. They came from below standard living conditions, they’re cage was a very tiny little bird cage and they were never really taken out. They were only fed quiko sugar glider food and thats about it. Even though they werent played with they are somewhat tame and eat fruit out of our hands and don’t crab too much. I just wanted to ask the experianced glider mommy and dadys out there afew questions;
1.The cage smells awful!Theyre poo is caked to the side of the cage, we can’t seem to get it off.Whats a safe way to clean it?
2.Is the quicko food ok?What else should we feed them,when and how much?
3.We had them out of their cage last night and they would climb on our hands and bite us.They even drew blood on my thumb. How do we bond w/older gliders and will they always bite people they don’t know?
4.What do u recomend as a cage liner? They were using kitty liter.
Thanks!!

I have tried making a sweeter feed mix 2 to 1 sugar water, in an another feeder and attracting the bees away, from the 4 to one hummingbird mix, (didn’t work) the bees just used both feeders, I tried spraying the bees and the feeder with soap and water, it chased the bees away for about 5 min but the soap migrates into the syrup and is not as attractive to the birds, The bees still come.
