I have a dieing baby starling, Help?!?!?

We had a nest inside the metal plastic where our roof hangs over. Well today got really hot really fast, we found one on the porch already dead, another that looked like it was trying to get out, that also died. I went in and pulled the plastic down and it was so hot, and there was still one that was alive and not looking good. I got gloves and got her and placed it in a box, I called the humane society then after calling 5 other people finally got a wild bird facility but they are an hour away and were closing in less than an hour. I can take it tomorrow after work but am afraid of it dieing before then. I went to sparlingtalk.com like the lady told me and have been giving it little drops of gatorade on its beak for rehydration, it is moving more, but still worried. Plus I gave it a little water, before I found out I couldn’t, but it threw up right after. I am afraid I may have done more damage. Right now all it is doing is what looks like to me sleeping, I just keep giving it a couple of drops hoping something will happen. Any ideas, what can I do to help the bird till tomorrow or do you think it just might be a lost cause.

also, have a heating pad under it, at low with a blanket in between the box and pad (thin box) and it covering the top, I read that it has to be 85 to 90 degrees.

Can we move this new bird’s nest without hurting the bird?

We are having electrical problems in our home and less than a 3 days ago it was just and old breaker box. Now a bird has made a nest on top of it and the electrician is due tomorrow! We got close to it and the bird doesn’t move and I fear she’s laying eggs or already has. How and where could we move the nest if the breaker box needs replacing (which it probably does)? There are lots of cats in the neighborhood and we don’t have trees in our yard.
It’s impossible to leave the bird’s nest there. Our electrical problem is a major fire hazard and if it’s not in the breaker box, we’ll leave the nest alone, but diagnostics so far say it IS the breaker box so either the nest gets destroyed or we try to move it responsibly.

Hi! Is it possible to breed 2 cockatiles and 2 parakeets in a very large cage?

It’s almost a flight cage. I’m going to get the birds today or tomorrow and I already have the cage. I was going to put the nesting boxes in the far corner. Anways, they should get along right. Thanks for advice.

Wild Baby Bird Care Instructions?

My teen daughter (an aspiring Vet) found a very small newly hatched bird and since many other children had been around it, she decided to put it in a box and try to take care of it until we can take it to the bird sanctum tomorrow. We are wondering how to take care of it for now. Should we try to feed it? Should we keep it under a heating pad to keep it warm?

Please, any ideas would help for the duration of this little guy.
This is a baby-baby. We’re pretty sure it’s a Mockingbird. It has no feathers and if it senses something around, it opens its bright yellow beak to eat.

Can I feed my cockatiels wild bird seed?

I have run out of regular cockatiel seeds, and can not get to the store until tomorrow. Will it hurt them if they get the wild seed that I have so much of?

Rescue baby bird care?

I just found what appears to be a blue jay nestling at my home. I work at SeaWorld, so I’m going to take it in tomorrow morning for them to take care of. I couldn’t get it back to the nest as it is 30+ feet up.

But what do I do meanwhile? One of the sites I went to suggested feeding it tiny slivers of fruit. So I tried a tiny piece of a grape – it won’t open it’s mouth. Should I be worried that it’s not eating?
Thanks everyone for your answers. The bird made it through the night and was very hungry this morning. I was able to feed it lots of tiny slivers of a grape (site I found gave this advice) and I got it into work OK.

I work in the zoological operations department of SeaWorld Orlando and yes, the aviculture department will take just about any bird you bring to their door.

I have a 2 year old Congo Grey. He wont eat and is losing weight. Any suggestions? He is not molting.?

Before you start screaming “Take him to the vet!!” Let me explain that I have an appointment with a vet that specializes in birds and exotics. In fact that is ALL she works with. He goes in at 11:30 tomorrow morning. He has had no changes in his life. I fill his dish and he throws all of his pellets out of his dish. I’ve tried hand feeding him, he picks up the pellet and throws it. Tried fresh fruits & veggies, he throws them too. I’ve even tried his favorite treats and he throws them. His crop is empty, and I havent seen him drink any water either. This has been going on since Friday or Saturday. Any suggestions on things I can try with him?
He has been DNA sexed and is a Male, so the possibility of being eggbound is not an option. I dont know about the organ thing because he is still lovable, and talks just like there is nothing wrong. The only problem is that he is not eating (not sure if he is drinking or not). I am at work, and have him here with me so I can watch him. He still wont eat, gonna try his favorites again.
He does have lots of toys, he has a play gym next to his cage and has free reign between his cage and gym. The cage is 24″D x 30″W x 48″H,

I think I agree that puberty may be a reason, I hope it may only be that. Cross your fingers for me. As far as the lighting, he is in a room that has both natural and artificial lighting. He is in my living room, I work nights so when I’m not working, I am up late into the night and have the lights on. The TV is also on all the time in that room. I also have 2 minpins, 3 rabbits, and a cockatiel in the same room. My cockatiel is a female, and he can see her. She has been wanting to breed, could her behavior be affecting him??? Hadn’t thought about that until just now.
Regarding respiratory system; I never burn candles unless they are white/unscented candles. I dont use air fresheners either, if an odor exists I just clean all the cages. We dont have teflon pans, and I dont smoke — have allergies/asthma myself.
I took him to the vet yesterday. She does not think it is puberty, and he is not dehydrated so he must be drinking. I’ve gotten him to eat a few things, but its a constant process. We sent for bloodwork yesterday and I’m waiting for results. We will go back to the vet in a couple days for an update, and the results of his labwork. If nothing shows up there we will do xrays and go a little deeper. Thanks to all that have answered so far.
