My parakeet just laid an egg!?

I found out today that my parakeet had an egg. I came home and there was an egg that was cracked, but just an hour ago she laid another! We took it out of the cage because she wasn’t laying on it and placed it under a lamp. I have two birds, we orginally thought that we had two females, guess not! We checked the egg and it appears to be fertilized. I have a few questions. What temperature should I keep the egg at? What foods should I be feeding to my parakeet? What type of nesting box should I get for my parakeet? Is there any way I can get my parakeets to go into the nesting box? Where should I place the nesting box? Thank you! :)

Will my tom cat hurt my 4 day old kittens?

I have 3 cats who live in the feed /hay storage/ wood shop. I didn’t think they were old enough to get preg but the two females did and one had 3 kittens on the hay. 2 kittens fell into a crack between the bales and apparently got too cold and died. I didn’t realize the hay had cracks in it and it didn’t croos my mind they would not be safe up there. She had already moved the surviving kitten and the other two were 4 bales deep I put my tomcat out for fear of him hurting the kittens. The problem is I live by a highway and am afraid Tom will get hit. I have been locking him in a bird cage at night to keep him safe. He also is a great hunter and I don’t want him to catch the birds in my yard. I know people who have Tom cats that don’t harm the Kittens at all but someone else told me he would.l He wants back in the shop very bad. Do you think he will hurt them?

Help! How can I fit two nesting boxes in one cage?

I have 1 male and 2 female parakeets in one 3-bird cage. I have recently figured out that my two females are both pregnant. I need two nesting boxes, and I can only fit one in the cage. I have another 1-bird cage, but it won’t fit a nesting box probably. Any suggestions on questions or on the baby’s? This is my first time with a pregnant parakeet!

Will a Happy Hut cause my parakeets to lay eggs?

I have three parakeets (two females and a male) and I do not want them to reproduce. I bought a Happy Hut today because I thought my male bird would like it, and I thought it would keep them warmer. It only just occurred to me that they might think it was a nesting box or use it as a nesting box. I do not want them to reproduce — should I take the Happy Hut back?

Eggs have gone.. :S ?

Okay, we have a bird aviary (not very big) and we have 4 budgies in there, so two males, two females and they are in pairs.. So two had 3 eggs and layed it in there nesting box and then a few days later they weren’t there and I saw a dead really young baby bird outside but not trace of any other birds or eggs.
The other pair kept hanging around there and one couple lost two eggs, which got dropped on the floor, we aren’t sure which couple it was, but my nan said she saw the other couple (without eggs) mating.

So where and why do you think the eggs in the nesting box went?

zebra finch eggs and parents issue?

i have four zebra finch (two males and two females)..i have two nest box in the cage (one at the right of the cage and one at the left)…the birds have been laying eggs in each nest box….one pair per box…the box to the left had 4 eggs and the nest to the right hand 6 eggs…after about 10 days into incubation the birds in the left of the cage stopped sitting on their eggs…so i placed those fertilized eggs into the nest to the right…when i did that we move the cage b/c my parents wanted to rearange the the house….now the birds on the right stopped sitting on the eggs and now the birds from the left is sitting in the nest on the right and incubating all 10eggs….and the other two from the right are sitting in the left nest….will this be too much trouble for he parents to handle all that babies….they are sup. to hatch either tomorrow or the next day…it will be 16 days tm….
i feed the birds egg site finch food…they get greens and chopped boiled eggs with shells everyday…and sometimes as treats the get fruits…
