Cockatiels feeding babies that aren’t theirs?

I have 5 adult cockatiels. I started with 3 then 2 of them had 2 babies. Well those 2 babies are adults now and one of them mated with the other female I had before and they now have 3 babies, they’re about a week old. Now that they are rather big, the parents aren’t in the nest box as much, allowing the parents that had the 2 babies in the first place, to go in the box, and they feed the new babies every now and then. These birds must know that these aren’t their babies, why are they feeding babies that aren’t theirs?

My parakeet keeps biting me!?

I have a parakeet, I have had him for about 5 months now. He was always the sweetest bird not once did he ever bite me, he hadn’t even tried to bite. But now in this past week he started biting. He will go on my finger eaisly, but then he will start biting my hand. I don’t know if it might be that he just want food, because most of the time I give him millet when he gets on my finger. But I can’t feed him food everytime he goes on my finger. I really would love to know how to get him to stop biting, because he used to be such a good bird and I don’t want him to bite anymore. Please Help!

Why do I never get any birds in my garden now… I feed them, but never see any .?

I used to get literally hundreds of birds in the course of a week (sparrows, starlings, blackbirds, wrens, thrushs, robins) … now virtually nome… I have put bread, nuts, seed etc out… nothing… where have they gone????
Sorry, forgot to say I live in the Midlands in the UK

My cocktail has layed 7 eggs, can’t tell if they are fertile. The male has not shown no interest in her.?

She is 2 yrs old. The male is a little over a year and they really don’t get along, She first layed 2 eggs then about 4 days later she layed 3, then about a week later she layed 2 more. She is sitting on them all day but I’m concern because she only comes out to eat 2 or 3 times a day and according to the books the male should be feeding her, but he is not. I think he is to young to notice. When she come out to eat he goes into the box to play with the eggs but doesn’t sit on them. Is this normal behavor for the birds? And if they are not going to hatch when should I take the eggs out?

how could i take care of a week old baby peached faced bird who has been abandoned by the mother?

my lutino peached faced bird layed 4 eggs and it is her third time to do so in a year.. back then i got no problems because the mother always took care of her babies; just that this month; i got few problems like the mother thrown her two first consecutive eggs… but nevertheless she still layed two more eggs which she took care and finally just two weeks ago; she finally hatch the first one; and the day after that the second one…so she have two wonderful babies; just that the following day; the other baby died because she intentionally have stepped on it.. so i still have left the other baby there with her; as i was observing the mother… she stopped feeding the baby; and just always stayed out of the nest box.. so i finally decided to take the baby and take care of it…so plz help me in taking care of it….
thanks..any suggestions would be of help.
by the way; i have placed that baby bird in a cup… placed tissue paper around it to keep it warm… and with the light of course.. i feed the baby every two hours; check on it hour after hour….

I have a male cockatiel age 7 years and a female 9 months.?

Last week the young female laid an egg on the floor of the cage. I bought a nesting box, attached it to the cage, and with a paper towel moved the egg into the box on soft material purchased with the box. I do not see either of the birds sitting on the eggs or even going into the box. Today I found another egg on the cage floor and moved it into the box as before.
I would like to have a baby cockatiel. Am I doing things correctly? If not, how should I proceed?

Lovebird Eggs Question?

About 1 week ago I noticed my Lovebirds had 4 eggs.

But they may have been in there for about 2 weeks! I hadn’t checked the nest box at all, because I thought that the male was the female and the female was the male. I opened the nest box up one day to find the bird I THOUGHT was the male, sitting on the eggs!
So I really don’t know how long they were in there. I had noticed I hadn’t seen much of the bird I thought was the male for a while and thought he was just hiding in the nest box playing games.

Mum then rang 2 pet shops and both say DO NOT touch the eggs because the mother and father won’t recognize the smell and may abandon or kill the eggs. But I have read that you SHOULD check if they are fertile…

What do I do?

Thanks in advance, Tessa xx

WaitingToExist- Lol. Well, I hope your right, but that brings another serious question…

I’m actually scared to touch them, as I’m scared I’ll break them or distress the birds! :-(
Jay- Lol yeah. I know the pet shops are only into money. Actually, funny story… They offered that when the eggs hatch, I could sell them back to the pet shop, and I was like, errrm no thanks! Most of the pet shop birds die.
ATTENTION:

I CHECKED ONE OF THE EGGS.
I NOTICED THE FATTEST END OF THE EGG WAS WHITE WHEN NEAR A LIGHT, AND THE REST WAS DARKER… WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? SHOULD I CHECK FOR SOMETHING ELSE?
Okay…

I have established wether all 4 are fertile or not…

*drum roll*

*louder drum roll*

*LOUDER drum roll*

FERTILE! And looks like they have been there a while and a soon to hatch!

Thanks everyone!
