any precautions when feeding the wild birds, because of bird flu?

I enjoy feeding the wild birds especially during the winter. Staying warm and finding food is probably not easy for them. Are there any precautions I need to take because of the bird flu other than washing my hands?

Traditions or habits picked up from your parents?

I’m happy to say that I have picked up a few traditions/habits from my Dad who passed away 3 years ago. He always made sure we had a good Christmas; he always made sure to feed the wild birds in the wintertime and pre-warms his coffee mug before pouring coffee in it…. A bit quirky, but I like it. How about you?

Do you think certain people are born with an inherent affinity for animals and nature?

I have a natural repoire with animals, certain kinds in particular.. I feel I was born this way and those who know me have noticed and think the same…. It is especially strong with cats, dogs and wild birds… It’s wierd, like I can make them trust me instantly… I think it is the strongest with wild birds, they are utterly fascinating to me and I have been able to walk right up to a wild chickadee and coax it to perch on my hand, no food, out in the middle of the bush I just walked up and put out my hand, the bird got on and let me stroke its feathers and hold him up to my face to look in his eye before he fluttered off. This kind of thing happens alot to me, and I never feed the birds, but they let me walk right up to them and sometimes touch them and they never act scared, its like they ignore me because they know im not a threat…. Does anyone else have a gift with animals like that?? Do you think people are born that way or is it just personality??
