I found a baby bird stuck down in my basement window area…I got a bucket and gloves and let it out and it was trying to fly but could not yet….the mother came when it started chirping and it had a worm for it…the bird wondered off to the next yard were another window like mine is…I was wondering if you guys think the mother will find it there and continue feeding it…I feel terible that I moved it in the first place…so do you guys think the mother will find it??
The mom keeps coming to this area…I am watching out the window…it is not scared…I live in a condo and it went over to the condo right next to me..I just wanna know if the mother is likley to find the baby…
Ok I cant put the bird back I dont have a clue were it went…I just need to know if the mother is likley to find it…

Do you ever get surprised by something you thought you would never like?

In a window box I have a bunch of aromatic greens,
outside on the trellis there are squash and snap-pea beans.
Towering above the house, two elder pines stand guard.
Tending the needs of nature has left my small hands scarred;
but it occupies the place that held my four soldier sons.
I have only just said farewell to Joseph, my youngest one.
His wife is in America, tending to their new estate.
I wish I could see my Joseph when he comes through her gate,
War took my three elders; they feed the edelweiss,
I greet every dawn with melancholy watching the sunrise.

The postal server makes his rounds with skill- his smile a flourish,
delivering letters and packages with knowledge of how such things nourish.
Therefore as he approaches me with his eyes cast down at feet,
excruciatingly painful steps slumped shoulders, sheer defeat,
I realize that he can only hold an abomination in his pouch,
a message begun, “We are sorry to inform you but..” is crouched.
Oh Joseph, my last child has been placed beside the rest;
four birds that flew away now lie eternally in a heathered nest.

This was the first part of a silent movie I watched last night, rather my interpretation. The movie was called, ‘Four Sons.’ I seem to have piqued a new interest. I had thought the films of that era to be corny and bland but this one was done in a manner that showed me what talent their was in creating such a thing. It all comes together with high emotive responses evoked by the art….sort of like well maybe POETRY? Anyway, this was going to be the whole smmary but I decided to not let it be a spoiler! Watch this movie! Also if anyonehas a recommendation of one of these sil;ent films that is a treasure>

What do I do with this baby Sparrow who’s top beak is completely broken off??

I have a baby Sparrow who tried to fly the nest and flew right into a window and broke its top beak completely off. The nest was way too high up so I couldn’t put it back. At first it went into shock and a couple hours later after the blood cleared it was doing fine. It can breathe fine out of its nostrils and it will not stop chirping (I think because it is hungry?) but I really cannot feed it anything since it has no top beak. What should I do? I called the vet and they said they could put it to sleep humanely but is there any way an animal rescue can help this bird survive?

Update: Thank you everyone for your answers and insight. Unfortunately, it passed away earlier today.

Will the Mourning Dove mother leave?

About a week ago, a mourning dove nested in our flower box right outside out window. I was babysitting my friends’ son, who is about four years old. One night, I come into yt room and I see him poking at the mother mourning dove through the screen, and when I came in, the mother mourning dove had flown off! It’s been about thirty minutes, and I’m wondering if she is going to come back.. The two eggs had hatched, and the birds have some feathers, but not enough for them to survive. They are about 5 inches long. I haven’t touched them, but still I’m worried if the mom will come back because of what threat the child posed on them.

There’s a bird on the window?

Okay just yesterday, I saw this bird on my uncle’s window. There was a nest but no eggs so I thought I should wait. Then I tried feeding it with a bread, but the bird refuses to eat it and then it flew away. And then just this morning it came back, and a couple of hours ago the egg was there already. And about an hour ago the bird disappeared again. Is it out to get some food? how long will it take for the eggs to hatch? it’s just a typical wild bird though…
I think it’s a finch. It’s as big as a 13-years old’s palm. It’s gray-ish. And yeah, that’s about it.
