my fiance and I found a bird with a broken leg and part of his back wing tore off. We put it in a box with dead grass shaped like a nest and put water in a small bowl tilted towards him a little. Is there anything special i should do before I take him to the vet tomorrow????
by the way i live in the midwest and it’s a grey bird, anyone know what kind it could be?
Heard it screaming and chased the cats off now I got it in a shoe box. It seems to be fully covered no skin and feathers are well formed. Dont know how hurt it is as it was bleeding a little under its wing. What can I feed it and know of any where here in nj that will take it? Or can I put it in a nest in the morning? I heard that birds will take care of baby birds even if not their own.
Thank you all for the replies. You should be happy to know…I hope… That I took her or him, to a vet at pet co. She was an aviary specialist who said that the bird was not too badly hurt and would probably make it. They are sending it to Mercer county wildlife center and will rehab it and send it back to the wild if they could. They never charged me a penny while I was willing to pay…. I will be sending a donation to the wildlife center. They even told me to call back frequently for updates….. I feellllllll sooooooooo muchhhhhhhh betterrrrrrrr.
For all of you who keep telling me to keep my cat indoors….@##@#@#.
I take care of ferals in my neighborhood. I have had them spayed and nuetered payed for shots and 3 daily feedings. If not they would have been put to sleep. Since when have cats NOT been part of the wild. Just because some people domesticated them…..( i have 2 that I took in and bottle fed and LOVE like my babies) does not mean that they should not be in their natural inviroment. They are part of nature…….So I agree that bells will not help but try to put a bell on a feral or tell it nooooooo. The ferals deserve love too.
An entertaining video and photos of me feeding a hummingbird on my lap and up close with the hummingbird eating from a bird feeder that I am holding in my hand. Nice bird and cricket sounds in the background of this country setting. Some interesting hummingbird facts captioned in the video.
