How can i release a baby bird safetly?

I have a baby bird that has most of his feathers and is trying very hard to fly. I found him just yesterday at a park on the floor so i took him in. He cannot fly or perch. He crawls a lot and flaps his wings untill hes out of breath.
Should i return him where i found him or keep him in my care until he learns to fly?
Right now hes eating moist cat food and is in a soft box.
I feed him every hour.

My baby bird that i found is having troubles breathing?

He has most of his feathers but cannot perch or fly yet. He flaps his wings a whole lot and tries to crawl. He eats well, i feed him moist cat food.
What other foods are better?
Is his breathing normal? If not, what do i do?
Is the flapping of wings normal?

I found a sparrow that can’t fly?

I’ve been feeding him/her millet. The bird rolls over occasionally and doesn’t seem to flap his wings. Any Ideas on how to help this little one?
The bird looks big enough to fly. The bird was on the ground at the school where my wife teaches for a couple of days before the students brought the bird to my wife. He jumps around quite a bit (I have the little guy in a box with water and shredded paper). In addition to the millet (which I just removed from the box, based on your kind responses) I fed him ‘extra’ bird formula that I mix with some water and feed with a syringe). It’s daylight now so I have the box opened out on the porch). I did the same thing yesterday, bringing the box & bird in after the sun had set). I’m having trouble finding a bird sanctuary where I live near Pasadena California, so if anyone know of a place I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Stoke

Need help on feeding a young finch bird.!!!?

My cat found a young bird, one of those small ones with brown feathers that are flying about constantly. About the same size as a Blue-tit. Anyway, couldn’t find the nest, so I put it in the bushes nearby for about 5hours to see what would happen. It was still there. Perfectly fine, sent me on a wild-goose’s chase trying to catch it. It drinks water from a small injection(without the needle), but I can’t seem to get it to swallow any food. Its got some feathers. but its quite scrawny and either one of its wings or legs is wonky so it can’t really fly very well. I don’t know how old, but I would say its in the ‘teenager’ age… So what do i do now? I have it in a small box with sawdust cuttings, some food in a tiny bowl… and it keeps trying to get out. But I have cats everywhere, and if it can’t fly, it sure as hell can’t defend itself against a cat. Any tips what to do now? please!
if I put it in a tree – won’t it fall and seriously hurt itself again? it’s not flying or flapping its wings…
and barely claws at anything just pecks me…

I found a baby bird! Help! What to do?

So, my aunt found this baby bird yesterday evening on the ground. It was getting eaten by ants. She brought it inside and made a nest for him with a small cardboard box and some tissue with a warm water bottle underneath. We have determined that the nest is somewhere in this very tall tree above where we found the bird. So, the bird is tiny tiny. Maybe an inch and a half long. He is fuzzy bluish with small feathers only on his wings. His eyes aren’t open yet. So he’s probably a couple days old. He only makes a barely audible chirp when he opens his mouth to be fed. We have been feeding him watery oatmeal bits and warm soaked chopped up cat food by tweezers. We do this about every 25 minutes. He has been pooping too. Through the night we kept him in the warmest room in the house with a hat over the box. Today, we’ve been keeping him up on this shelf thing on the porch with the hat still. We tried calling anyone we could look up, but no answer. We live near Fayetteville, NC. So my question is, what things could I do to help this baby bird more? Advice please? Thanks!! Also, any name suggestions? I don’t know the sex yet, but a cute name could go either way. He seems like a boy to me. =)
