baby bird help!!?

yesterday morning we found an unfeathered little bird, on the ground with no nest in sight
we have been feeding him crushed up worms and he poops/urinates-whichever you want to say-regularly
but he is trying to stand and I am pretty sure his leg is broken
because it stays tucked under him and he doesn’t move it, but he is fine if I touch it
is there anything I can do for his leg until I can get him to a professional??

Female cockatiel, no eggs, aggressivness?

Female pearl cocktiel has been aggressive since yesterday morning. I found that she has infujured my male cockatiel so i separated them, today when i put them back she chases him around when he goes near the nesting box. Since yesterday she gets all puffed up and territorial and tries to bite, she rock back and forth a little, i thought it was egg binding, when i attempted to put her under a warm towel she got out of the nesting box and was perfectly fine, personality and all, just when she gets in the nesting box. her vent wasn’t swollen and i felt underneath and it didn’t feel hard or anything like an egg was there, it was quite soft. so after that he was k last night and i separated the two birds. This morning she was in the box again, hissing and still trying to bite the male when i put him inside. Help?

How long will it take for a mother sparrow to find her baby?

Well, yesterday, my brother & I rescued a baby sparrow from certain death. He (I suppose it’s a he) and his sibling fell out of the nest, which was in our neighbor’s vent, and were lying in the grass, completely exposed to sunlight. The sibling died shortly after the fall, but the other one is still alive! We sat him in a cardboard box lined with paper towels & a few small sprigs of grass & wired the box to a bush near the nest as the wildlife rehabilitator that we contacted said to do. We left it there for about a quarter of the day yesterday, all last night, and the mother still has not come back. Can you please give me the approximate period of time that it takes for a mother bird to find her baby?

& whether you can or can’t answer the question, please pray for the little bird.
Also, he is chirping; it is a quiet chirp, but a chirp nonetheless. His eyes are not open & he has no feathers, so I know that he is a nestling. Birds have an undeveloped sense of smell, so the mother most likely will not smell our human scents on him.
The baby is still outside in the box & when I checked on it about an hour ago, it’s chirping is louder, he is able to stretch his neck out completely, his eyes are opening a bit, he’s moving more, he’s excreted waste, & my brother & his friend said they saw a sparrow fly out of the bush where the baby is! This may be the mother!

i have 8 cockatiels.just yesterday one of them laid an egg?

so observed very carefully to see which 2 are the parents. i noticed that 2 of the birds kept protecting the egg and fighting off all the other birds. so i got another cage ,got another nesting box and put the parents in the cage by them selves. did i do wrong? only reason i felt the need to do this is because not to long ago they laid 5 eggs and all of a sudden they disapeard.is this normal? my birds hve a huge cage outdoors no rats or annything can get in.my biggest concern is now that ive separated them they wont go in the nesting cage to sit on the egg.what do i do?i dont want the egg to die :(

OMG! Help! Would YOU eat this chicken??

I just bought it yesterday…for dinner tonight.

And then, I just read this…
POSTED: 5:33 a.m. EDT, May 5, 2007
“Federal officials on Friday placed a hold on 20 million chickens raised for market in several states because their feed was mixed with pet food containing an industrial chemical.”

“…a risk assessment to determine whether the chickens would pose a threat to human health if eaten…” a USDA spokesman said…”may be completed as early as Monday.”

The Story:

Monday? This bird is for dinner later today, Saturday.

What do I do? What would YOU do?
(btw…I’m in Oregon…the chicken is a Foster Farms, fresh)
Thanks for all the advice so far…especially s7lmb.
I posted this mainly for others who might also have concern about a recently purchased chicken.

I went online to Foster Farms…

and called the 800 number and left a message. I bought the chicken at my local Safeway and I’ll give them a call later to see what they have to advise.
Thanks all.

What happened to my baby birds?!?

There is a robin’s nest on my back porch, on the porch light. There were 2 baby birds in there – one was hatched the day before yesterday, and the other one just yesterday. My brother put a webcam out there and we’ve been watching. Just this morning, the mother and father were feeding the birds and everything was fine.

Now, a few hours later, the birds are gone! It’s just an empty nest, and the mother and father seem nowhere around.

Did a crow get them? Or is it possible that the mother and father robins moved them? There’s no way a cat could have got them where they are. Do crows eat baby birds?

I’m so upset!
